See you at conference…

UK research, particularly medical research, is all over the party conferences this year.

AMRC are working with the BioIndustry Association (BIA), ABPI and Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) to hold a series of high-level breakfast discussions focused on medical research. We will be bringing the key spokespeople, ministers and shadow ministers, from each party round the table alongside leaders from across the medical research community – including charities, industry, research councils, universities, science bodies and institutions.

The Health Hotel includes two research-focused events:

Research to the rescue: Is medical research the new growth area for Britain’s Economy?

The Stroke Association, British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK

Innovation as cure: how medical research can crack our toughest health problems

Alzheimer’s Research Trust, Anthony Nolan Trust, ABHI

and many charities are including research calls among the issues they plan to raise.

The Royal Society is holding joint events with the 1994 group building on their report The Scientific Century and their submission to the comprehensive spending review. David Willetts, Vince Cable and David Lammy are confirmed to speak.
