David Willetts – BIS Minister for Universities and Science – appeared in front of the Lords Science & Technology Select Committee yesterday.

Given the timing, there were lots of questions about the upcoming spending review (on Wednesday 20 October), the future of the science budget and maintaining the UK’s international competitiveness in science. The conversation also ranged around support for pharmaceutical investment in the UK, developing a UK workforce with the right skills, and what happens to science funding with the end of the Regional Development Agencies, who had been responsible for a considerable amount of regionally directed science spending.

A transcript isn’t available yet but when it is – it will be available on the committee’s website. Right now, you can watch the whole thing here.
