We are waiting for the government to announce how they plan to cap non-EU immigration to the UK. The proposed cap has raised concerns across the research community as a lot of international researchers come from outside the EU to work in the UK. AMRC have produced a short briefing paper explaining the background, the potential impacts of the cap on non-EU immigration to science in the UK, what is going to happen next and what we can do to make sure policy-makers hear our concerns. Check it out here.

The Lords have a debate focused on Immigration in the UK this Thursday – 21 October.

Lord Turnberg has tabled a written question for answer on 28 October:

to ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the potential impact on United Kingdom science of the operation of a cap on non-European Union immigration.
