£100 million capital funding for science in the budget tomorrow

The FT have a great checklist of what is expected in the budget tomorrow on their Westminster blog. Science is at number 18. £100 million of extra capital funding for one or two big science projects – it names the space innovation centre and the Brabaham life science research park in Cambridge.

There’s more detail in this article behind the paywall. This mentions the Office for Life Sciences which was established by the previous government and is still working hard to coordinate work across the life sciences sector. The BioIndustry Association is one of the associations working closely with the Office for Life Sciences and there’s a good outline of what sort of support and announcements they are looking for in the budget to help life sciences industry in the UK here.

What next?

George Osborne will announce the budget tomorrow, kicking off at half past 12 in the House of Commons. All documents should be available here once he’s finished.
